Addressing Cellular Senescence and Healing in Aging Tissues

Image
As people age, they often notice that cuts take longer to close and joints take longer to recover from a weekend of activity. Why does the body’s internal repair team seem to slow down as the years pass? This phenomenon is largely due to cellular senescence, a biological reality that advanced options like Regenerative Protein Array (RPA) by Genesis Regenerative have shown promise in addressing by supplementing the body’s declining resources. Cellular senescence refers to a state where cells stop dividing and lose their ability to function optimally. In a youthful body, cells are robust and highly communicative, constantly secreting the growth factors and proteins needed to maintain tissue health. However, as cells age, they enter a state of dormancy or “quiescence”. They still exist within the tissue, but they become quiet. They produce fewer signals, respond less vigorously to injury, and produce less energy. It is not that the body lacks the machinery to heal; rather, it posses...
